La Musicacion Compagnie

La Musicacion Compagnie

LA MUSICACIÓN COMPAGNIE (Spanish-the musication company) is a dynamic group of educators who sing and play music. Our members are from all over Jamaica, and as the parishes vary, so does the repertoire of this Performing Arts Group. We believe in excellence through music education as practitioners, and we also believe in enjoying what we do with our talents as we share them with the nation and by extension the world. The very unique thing about education is that we are constantly learning and the unique thing about music is that we are constantly creative in our making of it. Therefore, what we learn, we share so that others may benefit from the joy through the learning experience as well.
Teachers who Sing & Play Music

Matthew Silpot

Founder and artistic director of La Musicacion Compagnie, Matthew Silpot has been in the Performing Arts world for over 25 years. His musical journey started at St. Catherine High School under tutelages of Sirs Kenneth Neale and O’Neal Mundle, who would have been pivotal mentors for him to pursue music education at Atlantic Union College under the baton of Dr. Eric Parris, where his love for choral music was woven into interesting designs of compositions and arrangements for ensemble and mixed choruses.  Silpot has been instrumental in choral development for several educational and religious institutions, both locally and internationally. He has also been engaged as choir master within the Mico University College Community, Meadowbrook United Church, Webster Memorial United Church and the Ebony Vale Baptist Church to name a few. However, while loving the interaction with all of these groups through choral music, La Musicacion Compagnie stands out as a very special family, as all members were “hand-picked” by Silpot, not auditioned for the love of music! The journey has been magical with this august body of talent, as the banner of music is flown high at all times and the moments on stage are just magical!

Kamla Hamilton

Kamla Hamilton is a musician who has been playing the piano for over twenty years. Having grown up around music, Kamla developed a strong love for the art form which led her to study classical piano at the Jamaica School of Music. Kamla's bond with music is not limited to any one form. In her musical journey she explores jazz, reggae, gospel, folk and classical music, among others. Apart from playing at various churches, accompanying choirs, some of her past gigs include the Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Music Festival, Jazz in the Gardens, and several other locally produced concerts.
