Help Paul Walk Again

The William “Paul” Barclay Medical Assistance Fund organizing team would like to solicit your help for a dear friend and brother, William Paul Barclay more popularly known as Paul Barclay.

This musician, songwriter, producer, arranger, founder of Katalys Crew, and an administrator of over 15 years among various reggae industry associations in Jamaica, needs your help.

Paul’s world was turned upside down when he was recently diagnosed with a pathological fracture of the L 4 disc (Lumbar 4) of the spinal cord. Upon diagnosis, he was hospitalized and underwent immediate corrective surgery of the spinal cord with the aid of implants.

To date, Paul has been discharged from the hospital and is still unable to sit up or walk on his own. He has accumulated medical expense in the amount of US$37,300.00 which covers pre and post operation costs, specialist bills, rehabilitative cost as well as the cost to purchase additional braces to support movement. The breakdown of the total cost is as follows:

EXPENSES: COST US$

Pre-surgery 20,000.00

Post-surgery:

Physiotherapy Visits

Orthopedic Visits

Biopsy

Purchase of a Walker

Purchase of a Back brace

Medication

Home care (devices and supplies to
assist with mobility) 17,300.00

TOTAL COST 37,300.00

Paul continues with post operation care and physiotherapy to aid with stabilization of the spinal cord, and awaits the result of a biopsy that was done to determine the possible cause of the pathological fracture.

Please help us raise funds for Paul to cover expenses related to what was a real life-threatening procedure.

Thank you so much in advance for your generous donations.

*******
Thank you for your continued support and prayers on this platform.

Paul has since been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called plasmacytoma and awaits results of biopsy for further confirmation. In the meantime he has commenced 5 weeks of daily radiation therapy. He is still unable to walk and with the help of a brace and walker he is able to make a few assisted steps during physiotherapy.
However, the process of radiation has affected his daily progress with physiotherapy as it has been difficult to do both.

God has been faithful and we remain thankful for His gracious and merciful hands.

Paul is determined to walk again and to completely overcome this condition. Doctors also believe its possible with continued treatment and appropriate support.

The generous support received via the medium and other channels have assisted with achieving some of the areas of the budget. As such you will notice we have also adjusted the amount requested.

Your overall support so far has assisted in the vital steps made and we extend heartfelt gratitude for your assistance and welcome your continued prayers and donations as Paul enters this next phase of recovery.
